NOMINATIONS

 

How do I make a nomination?

Please submit all your nominations via the online nominations portal. Click here to view the award categories, or to be taken straight to the nominations page click here.


Is there a limit to the number of nominations I can make or how many times I nominate the same person/organization?

You can make a nomination in as few or as many awards categories as you wish at no cost. If an individual or organization qualifies for more than one award they can be entered in multiple categories.

 

What is required to submit a nomination? 
Nominators are required to provide a brief (500 word) reason for nomination- addressing the specific award criteria and explaining why the nominee deserves to be selected as a finalist in the particular category.

 

NOTES:

 

Deals Awards

 

i) Each firm/organization may nominate a maximum of three deals in each deals category.

ii) Deals that were nominated for the Lexpert Top 10 Deals of 2019 report will be automatically considered for the appropriate awards category at the Canadian Law Awards 2020 and do not need to be re-nominated.

iii) Winners of the six sector-specific deals awards will automatically progress to become finalists for the Canadian Deal of the Year category; thus, only deals that do not fall within the six sector-specific categories need be nominated for this category.

 

In-house Awards

 

i) Winners of the four sector-specific law department awards will automatically progress to become finalists for the Canadian Law Department of the Year category; thus, only law departments that do not fall within the four sector-specific categories need be nominated.

 

Firm Awards

 

i) Winners of the two sector-specific boutique firm awards will automatically progress to become finalists for the Canadian Boutique Law Firm of the Year category; thus, only boutique firms that do not fall within those two sector-specific categories need be nominated.

 

Am I able to self-nominate?

Yes, self-nominations are permitted from individuals and firms/organizations.


Is there a word limit for nominations?

Most categories ask for nominations under 500 words. Please refer to the specific criteria and word limit mentioned on the nomination portal for the category in which you wish to enter.


Is there a nominating fee?

No, there is no fee.

 

SUBMISSIONS

Shortlisted finalists will receive an email with a unique link to the online ‘finalist submission’ portal.

This submission phase provides the opportunity for finalists to provide explanations and success metrics where applicable, based on the given criteria for the award category, to be considered by the independent judging panel when casting their votes.

The brief online questionnaire allows for the entry of supporting information including further explanation and success metrics, where applicable, based on the given criteria for the relevant award category.

How do I book a table at the awards?

Online: Click here to be redirected to the table reservation page where you can enter your details and select your payment option.

By phone: Contact Angelina Bong on +1 416 644 8740 ext. 225 to receive information about booking a table for the awards.

Confirmation will be e-mailed directly to the e-mail address provided on the table booking form within 48 hours of your booking. How do I pay for a table booking?

Online booking: Payment should be made via credit card at time of booking through the secure online table booking system. Visa, Mastercard and AMEX accepted.

What happens once I book a table for the awards?

Once we have received and processed your table booking, you will be sent a confirmation email including event details and either an invoice or paid invoice for your records (depending on your payment option). You will also receive email reminders in the lead up to the event to ensure that you have not missed any important details. All you need to do is simply turn up on the night!

What should I wear to the event?

The dress code is black tie.


Are meals included in the table booking fee?

Yes, you will receive drinks on arrival, a 3-course gourmet dinner as well as unlimited drinks.


Can you cater for special dietary requirements?

Yes of course. Please include all dietary requests when registering online. This form is to be filled out with the names of those to be seated on the table along with any dietary requirements they may have.


I booked a table and sent through the names of the people to be seated at my table but I need to make a name change. How do I do this?

You are more than welcome to change the name of someone seated at your table. All name changes will be required before September 15, 2020. Changes can be made through the personalized link provided in your booking confirmation. What happens if I need to cancel my table?

Cancellation requests received in writing 30 or more days in advance will be issued a credit valid for use towards another Key Media event within 12 months of the date of issuance. The company regrets no refunds will be made. Substitutions are welcome at any time, at no additional cost. What will happen to my details?

We do not release any personal details contained on the table reservation form.
